Annual RIBFEST at Rocky Point Park
RIBFEST is a community favourite in Port Moody. Every summer over an extended weekend, thousands from the Tri-Cities and beyond follow their noses and their bellies to Rocky Point Park for some tasty ribs, beer, and fun in the sun.
Since our inaugural year in 2015, RIBFEST has been the largest annual community event in Port Moody. We estimate that roughly 50,000 visitors attend the festival over the three days each year, with about 35-40% of those folks coming from outside of Port Moody.
Rotary Club of Port Moody partners with several key sponsors every year to make this event a success. Funding and logistical support, as well as the use of Rocky Point Park, is provided by the City of Port Moody. We also appreciate the sponsorship support from Onni, OpenRoad Lexus Toyota, and Thrifty Foods.
To put on an event of this scale an army of volunteers are needed. We call on the members of the other Tri-Cities Rotary Clubs as well as hundreds of volunteers from the community. Their help is integral to the success of this event.
RIBFEST is an event for all ages. In addition to delicious ribs and local beers, there is usually a vegan BBQ food truck and Rocky Point Ice Cream for a sweet post-rib treat. There is live music over the 3 days featuring local musicians and a “Fun zone” with entertainment for children and families.
RIBFEST is a huge success for our club and the community of Port Moody. The annual festival is our largest fundraiser, and all proceeds are reinvested directly into the community. RIBFEST proceeds are used to fund our local Community Grants program as well as Rotary community service projects.
In addition to the funds raised, RIBFEST is an essential opportunity to bring in visitors, come together as a community and to promote local businesses.
